Human Hair Wigs for Black Women: A Practical Buyer’s Guide

Choosing a wig is easier when you separate personal style from product facts. Texture, lace construction, installation type, density, length, color, and cap fit all affect the experience, and no single combination is best for every wearer.

Choose texture by the look you want

Melted Hair carries styles such as body wave, deep wave, water wave, kinky curly, straight, and other textures. Texture names describe the product’s styling pattern; they should not automatically be treated as an exact match to a natural-hair curl classification unless the product specifically states that classification.

Compare lace construction

Closures such as 4x4 and 5x5 use a smaller lace area. 13x4 and 13x6 frontals provide broader front coverage, and a 360-lace construction uses lace around the perimeter. The exact parting and styling options depend on the individual wig.

Glueless is a separate feature

A wig is glueless only when that construction is identified on the product. HD lace, pre-cut lace, or a particular lace size does not by itself mean the wig is glueless.

Understand density

Higher density generally means a fuller appearance, but the exact percentage and available options vary by product and variant. Use the current product selector and specifications rather than assuming a fixed density from a category name.

Check preparation features individually

Pre-cut lace, pre-plucked hairlines, bleached knots, bands, combs, and other preparation or securing features are not universal across the Melted Hair catalog. Confirm each feature on the product page before buying.

Heat and color processing

Do not assume that every item identified as human hair supports the same heat setting, bleaching, or dyeing process. Follow the product-specific care information or contact support before altering the wig.
